Scaffolding is up for the New Church in Nkanchi

Dear friends, the scaffolding is up at the new Saint Martin de Porres Church in Nkanchi Village! After the completion of the church building to the roof level, it took us a while to furnish the supply of the wood needed for the roofing. The rainy season was intense, making transporting materials impossible. And the rebels blocked the roads and forbade movement and circulation of vehicles for over three months. However, by mid-June, we were happy to have made great progress in the supply of the planks, the poles, the nails, and the rafters to the site. The poles are used in scaffolding (temporal structure to enable the workers to climb on them while working on the building: roofing, plastering, painting, and putting the ceiling and the windows).

On June 24, 2024, the scaffolding work began to prepare for the roofing. The carpenters brought along some of his coworkers and enlisted some carpenters from Nkanchi village to start the work. Since then, they have been making great progress building the scaffolding and the soon work on the roof will begin.

The scaffolding will not be removed until closer to the end of the building process when the plastering and painting are done. We continue our fundraising efforts and take this opportunity to thank our donors for their generosity and to create awareness that there is still a lot of work to be done even after the roofing.

Thank you for making our dream come true. May God abundantly bless and reward you.
